Mary Lou Beitel (Tuller)

Mary Louise Tuller “Mary Lou” was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 28, 1929. Growing up, Mary Lou spent summers in Chicago and in upper Michigan visiting relatives.  She graduated from Stephens College in 1949 with an Associates Degree in Fashion. 

After college, Mary Lou moved back to Detroit, MI, and met Vernon Beitel while working at the J.L. Hudson’s department store. Mary Lou married Vernon in 1954.  While living in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, they had a son, David V Beitel in 1957.

From St. Clair Shores, Mary Lou and Vernon moved to Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. Mary Lou enjoyed entertaining, spending time on the family boat, and traveling. 

Mary Lou was a loving Mother and a devoted wife. She spent many years as not only as a homemaker, but also as a bookkeeper for the family business.  Upon Vernon Beitel’s early passing, she moved to Florida to their smaller second home.  

Mary Lou moved several more times and ultimately settled in Colorado to be close to her son. Mary Lou retained her sense of fashion throughout her life. Her passion for cooking and baking was shared with family and friends and fondly remembered by all. 

Mary Lou passed on July 6, 2023, at the age of 93 while living at The Ridge at Pinehurst. She was preceded in death by her brother ‘Bud’ and husband, Vernon Beitel. She is survived by her son, David Vernon Beitel, and two grandchildren, Noah Beitel and Nick Beitel.
