Mary Ellen Bonscher was an accomplished television news producer, political activist, and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in New Jersey on November 21, 1945, and was one of six children to parents George and Lorraine Bonscher. She attended Metropolitan State College in Denver, graduating with a degree in journalism in 1979, and worked at radio stations in Colorado. She found success in TV news, beginning in 1988 at KOLO-TV inReno, Nev. She worked at KRON-TV and BAY TV in San Francisco, KBAK-TV in Bakersfield, Calif., KWGN in Denver, Colo., and most recently at KMGH-TV in Denver, producing the weekend morning show. Throughout her 23 year career, Mary Ellen earned a reputation as a dedicated newswoman and a caring, capable, and friendly co-worker. She was known for her drive to dig out stories and report them fairly, accurately and clearly. She cared about people. In her free-time, Mary Ellen enjoyed the company of friends and family, and worked to find joy in everyday life. After a brief illness, Mary Ellen passed away on June 10 in Denver. She is survived by her son, Tim Costello, and his wife, Susan, of Englewood, Florida; her daughter Barbara Morales, and her husband Ray, of Englewood, Florida; four grandchildren: Keenan, Britteny, Jessica and Delaney; one great grandchild, Benjamin; her niece Katie; nephews Sean, Michael, Ryan, and Matthew; and siblings Timothy Bonscher of Lakeland, Florida; Barbara Merideth of Scottsdale, Arizona; Joseph Bonscher of Littleton, Colorado; Peter Bonscher of Oceanside, California; and Patricia Bonscher of Littleton, Colorado.
