Mary C. "Carp" Carpenter

November 15, 1952 — January 18, 2024

Mary C “Carp” Carpenter passed away on January 18, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Green Bay Wisconsin on November 15th, 1952, to Rosemary L and Oscar J Carpenter, Mary was automatically inducted into the Packer Football Fan Club, a birthright she treasured all her life.   Mary’s favorite colors were green and gold.  

In 1963, Mary moved with her family to Denver, CO.  She graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1971 and began her career working for Cherry Creek School District #5 the very next day. Mary was passionate about the value of an education and after retiring in 2004, she became a founding and devoted member of Retired Employees of Cherry Creek Schools, RECSS. Raising funds for scholarships.

Mary’s most memorable experience was her solo drive from her home in Denver to Alaska in the camper van she named “Bud”.  The round trip took three months and was rewarded with a unobstructed view of Denali and many new friends along the way.

For many years, Mary enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Leadville where she engaged in cross country skiing, golfing and local community activities. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Oscar Carpenter and her sister Nancy Remillard.   She is survived by her brother James (Mary) Carpenter, sister, Jane McMahon, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

The celebration of Carp’s life will be held at date and place to be determined.  Please consider remembering Mary with a contribution to RECCS in her name.
