Mary Anna Carroll, 76, of Denver, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. She was born on August 2, 1936 in Oakley, Kansas to Leon and Irene Nevens. Mary Anna attended high school in Garden City, Kansas and later, moved to Denver where she worked as an administrative professional with Safeway Stores and the Colorado State Department from which she retired in 1991. Marriage unions included George E. Carroll and Luther Brown, both of Denver. An exceptionally talented and generous seamstress, Mary enjoyed cooking and fellowship with friends and family, with whom she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and mentor. Mary Anna was a Strong Women of Faith, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and attended the Holy Spirit Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Irene Nevens; sons, Wyman Carroll and Timothy Carroll; and husband, Luther Brown. She is survived by daughter, Diane Carroll (Denver), and sons Rick Carroll, Sr. (Paonia), Martin Carroll, Sr. (Grand Junction), Gregory Carroll, and his wife, Doris (Kansas City, MO), eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous cousins and loving friends. Visitation will be Saturday, December 22 from 4-8 PM and Sunday, December 23 from 11-2 PM followed by the funeral services at 2 PM at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home & Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver (303-757-1238). Interment is Monday, December 24 at 11 AM at Olinger Hampden & Eastlawn Cemetery & Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave. Denver (303-771-4636).
