Mary Chachas

May 12, 1942 — July 4, 2021

Mary (Maria) A. Chachas was born on May 12, 1942 in Pikerni, Greece (the Peloponnese region of Greece) to Alex and Stamo Andrianakos and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers; Tom, Ted and George. Mary was married to and survived by her husband of 56 years Jim G. Chachas, youngest sister to Dena Kitsos, son George Chachas, daughter-in-law Cynthia Chachas, daughter Bessie Chachas, 2 grandchildren Demetri and Louis Chachas and numerous nieces and nephews.

At the age of 9 years old, Mary came over to the United States with her family and resided in the Alamo Placita neighborhood, which at the time was a predominantly Greek neighborhood and attended Dora Moore Elementary School, Morey Junior High and East High School. After graduating, Mary worked at Samsonite until the factory moved out of the country. On January 31, 1965, Mary married Mr. Jim Chachas during a horrible blizzard and travelled to Salt Lake City, Utah for their honeymoon. Following her passion for fashion, she worked numerous years at Fashion Bar and finally retired from fashion when Lord & Taylor closed in Cherry Creek.

Mary, along with her husband, also became real estate investors and have been successful investors for the past 56 years. Mary loved dancing, listening to Elvis Presley, reading, talking on the phone with friends and family, spending time with her 2 grandsons and making the best Baklava and Spanokopita in all of Denver. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, aunt, yiayia and friend. Mary will be missed by so many, but she is finally without pain or suffering and at peace with our Lord.
