Mary D. Clydesdale, (age 94), of Lakewood, Colorado died on June 13, 2016. After a brief illness, she died as she lived her life, peacefully and gracefully. Born in Utica, New York, she was the daughter of Walter Devins and Lauretta McGivern Devins and the wife of the late Robert Clydesdale, Jr. She is survived by her children, Nan Clydesdale, Bonnie Ward, Robert Clydesdale, III (Karen), Elizabeth Evans (Thomas), James Clydesdale (Linda); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The oldest of eleven children all known for their Irish wit and vivacity, she is also survived by one sister, Eleanor Benman, and a brother Paul Devins. After graduating from Proctor High School and Utica Commerce Secretarial School, she worked at Utica Mutual Insurance before marrying Bob in 1945. Later she worked at the Environmental Protection Agency in Rockville, Maryland. Immediately after the wedding, Mary and Bob moved to Parris Island, South Carolina. A Marine Corps family for twenty years, they moved 18 times with five children in tow before their last move to Lakewood, Colorado in 1971. As a military wife until the end of her life, she was always known for her grace and grit. Together Mary and Bob filled their lives with family, truly great friends, and travel adventures throughout the US and Europe. Mary is buried at Fort Logan with her beloved husband.
