Mary Elizabeth ""Liz"" Dobel, 86, longtime Denver resident, was called to her creator on 9/28/17. Born in Kansas City MO to Ella & Jerome P. Dobel, Sr., she was the youngest of 4 children. Liz graduated from Hogan High School in K.C. & received her bachelor's degree in music from Mount St. Scholastica (now Benedictine College) in Atchison KS. She worked for several years in Omaha NE before moving to Denver in 1954. Liz held a number of administrative positions prior to working for the Denver City Auditor & Mayor's office under then Mayor Thomas Currigan. She subsequently worked in development for National Jewish Hospital & as office manager for the Denver office of Price Waterhouse. Liz ventured out on her own, founding L.D. Placements, a personnel placement agency, from which she retired after successfully building & selling the firm. Liz had a great joy for life & a ready, infectious laugh. She enjoyed traveling, playing poker & going to Bronco games. She had a standing poker game for more than 30 years with gentlemen she previously worked with. Liz & her dear friend, Marge Rooney, attended Bronco games for 25 years, including traveling to 2 Superbowls. She was a longtime volunteer at Swedish Hospital as well as at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was a parishioner for more than 45 years. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jerry, Katie & Jack Dobel & her dear friend Virginia Behm. She leaves behind 11 nieces & nephews & their families, sister-in-law Beverly Dobel as well as many good friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 20, 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2200 South Logan Street.
