Mary Jo Drabek

Mary Jo Drabek, 80, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at her home in Thornton, Colorado. She was born on December 28, 1938 in St. Paul, MN. Later she moved to Wyoming and then eventually settled in Colorado to raise her family.

Mary Jo is survived by daughter Colleen Marie Drabek, daughter Pamela Lynn Spath, son Lawrence Joseph Drabek, granddaughter Melani Ann Spath, and granddaughter Cassandra Jean Spath. She is predeceased by daughter Lynda Theresa Drabek.

Mary Jo was a lifelong schnauzer lover and owner. Her current schnauzer named Molly is safely and lovingly in the care of her daughter Colleen. Colleen frequently sent care packages to Mary Jo filled with surprises and always remembered to include a squeaky toy for Molly. Mary Jo was an avid bridge player and often played several times a week with her friends. She taught her daughter Pam and son-in-law Stu the basics of the game, but they were never able to match Mary Jo's card-playing prowess. Mary Jo also liked going to musicals in the Denver Theater District with her son Larry and playing many challenging rounds of Words with Friends with him. She enjoyed having coffee and breakfast with her neighborhood friends and any dogs were always welcome.

Mary Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who always had a smile to share and who was always there when you needed her. She will be deeply missed by everyone.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Westminster, CO. Following the service will be a celebration of life and a light lunch.
