Mary Gargalietos

Mary Paula Gargalietos (Maul-Acierno) Born December 2, 1950 passed away on July 5, 2022 at home at the age of 71. Preceded in death by her parents Vido M. Acierno and Esther Acierno (Schreiner), brother Anthony Acierno, and son David Maul. She is survived by her husband John I. Gargalietos, sons Donald M. Maul his wife Christine Bishop-Maul and Yiannis M. Gargalietos and his wife Eleni Georgakopoulou, grandsons Nick Priola, Hunter Maul, Pericles Gargalietos, and granddaughter Paityn Maul.

Born and raised in Denver, CO. Mary attended Mt. Carmel school and later Westminster High school. She attended some college classes. Mary grew up and lived most of her early life in North Denver and later in Evergreen, CO.

She married Donald E Maul in 1969 and had her first two sons Donnie and David. They divorced in 1977 but remained close.

Mary met her husband John and they were married in 1987 and had a son Yiannis (JJ)

She was self-employed and worked primarily in the family’s restaurant business. Mary loved traveling, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with her family and friends.

Later Mary, John, and Yiannis moved to Greece in 1989 where she and John owned and operated a hotel and later, an amazing world-famous restaurant, Señor Zorba, for over 25 years and thousands of beautiful sunsets in Santorini, GR. She met many people and made many friendships.

Mary recently moved back to North Denver full time to be closer to family.

She was a wonderful cook, a warm and engaging host, but most of all, Mary never missed an opportunity to have a good time and a good laugh with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Mary was a rebellious, young hearted free spirit with a heart of gold. She burned very brightly and lived a life full of experiences.

She was loved and will be missed greatly.

A celebration of life Mass will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 3549 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211.
