Mary Lourdes Knobbe

April 18, 1924 — December 23, 2012

Mary L. Knobbe, 88, of Evergreen, Colorado died December 23, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Dr. C. F. Knobbe, and her 11 children. In remembrance, I would like to share some of the things I think she loved most. First and foremost she loved God. He was a part of her life for as long as I can remember and she never wavered. That love was a constant amongst all the ups and downs of life. No matter where each of us are in our own faith, we have always known that Mom and Dad are right with God. Second, Mom loved Clem with all of her heart and he loved her all the day of her life. They were the King and Queen and we were their subjects. When we were young they often reminded us that this wasn't a democracy! Together, they called the shots. They had an unshakable bond, and were the rock upon which this family was built. Mom loved her kids. She had a bunch of them, but I know there were days that she made each of feel like we were her only one. She loved each of us so much and each in our own special way. It was a bucket that never ran dry. She loved her family far and wide. Her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters and their families. One feisty little woman with an incredible reach. From New York to California and everywhere in between. She loved her friends and they loved her. Her Tops group, and her walking partners, her neighbors and church friends. More than 40 years of relationships built in Evergreen. She will be remembered by many. She loved the art of the deal. When I was little, I would ride around with her and she would make deals. Trading houses for apartment buildings, past due rents for snowmobiles, and Cadillac's for diamonds. I never knew if we would even have a car to drive home when she was done. But she loved the deal. She loved garage sales and thrift stores. It didn't matter if she needed it or not if she could get it for half-price, she had to have it. She loved to walk. And walk she did, miles and miles around Evergreen and all the way to the national championship for race walkers for her age. She loved to be on the go, and once she retired, walking was her way to do just that. She loved real estate. Every house we ever lived in was always for sale if the price was right. She loved Laws Realty and her agents and she loved being the boss. She loved sitting around Uncle Dick's pool drinking martinis and playing Yhatzee with Clem and Lois and she loved stopping by the Jefferson 440 for a Manhattan with her old friends Russ. Once in a while the car would end up in Turkey Creek but mostly it was just good clean fun. She loved her airline passes and her ability to Travel with Dad, Shelly and Dave. Together they saw the world. And the list goes on and on. It's hard to imagine that so much love could come out of a tiny little package. But that was Mom. We love her so much and will miss her. Jesus, we know that she is with you tonight and that she is beginning to spread all of that love in Heaven. We know that she is praying for us as we grieve, and for us to join her someday in Heaven. -AMEN A Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at Christ The King Evergreen Catholic Church, 4291 Evergreen Parkway, Evergreen, Colorado.
