Mary Ellen Kottenstette

August 12, 1946 — April 20, 2013

Mary Ellen (Sirokman) Kottenstette. Born in August 1946. Married in July 1971. Nick was born in 1973, Matt in 1975, and Bill in 1978. Mary was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt who was survived by husband Gene; sons Nick (Maryellen), Matt (Jenn), and Bill (Diane); grandchildren Marie (15), Therese (11), Claire (9), Charlotte (7), Ignatius (5), Kathleen (4), Brooke (3), Taylor (3), Cecilia (nearly 1) and James (due in about 2 months); brothers Robert (Florence), Mark (Joan), Jim (Connie), Bill (Polly), Ed; sister Nancy Russell; and numerous nieces & nephews. Mary was born and raised in Englewood Colorado. She graduated from St. Louis Grade School (1960), Cathedral High School (1964), attended Marymount College in Salina Kansas a few years, graduated from the Catholic Biblical School for the Archdiocese of Denver and earned a Masters of Theology degree from St. Thomas Theological Seminary. She worked as a spiritual director at St. Louis Catholic Church and Most Precious Blood (MPB) Parishes where she managed the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Mary was the parish contact for the Right to Life Office of the Archdiocese at MPB and later at Holy Name and was recognized with the Pro Vitae award by Archbishop Chaput. Prior to her marriage, Mary worked as a stewardess for United Airlines for about five years, and traveled to England, Europe, Turkey and other exotic places, which prepared her well for her first home in Pyongtaek, South Korea following the honeymoon in Hawaii. She also cared for her mother who suffered from Alzheimers Disease in her later years dying at 93 years of age. The family welcomes you to celebrate the life of Mary and pray for her heavenly reception at the following events: Rosary: Sunday, April 28th, 3:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Mortuary, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Funeral Mass: Monday, April 29th, 10:30 A.M. Holy Name Catholic Church, 3290 W.
