Mary Leinweber

February 26, 1940 — December 11, 2022

Colorado Springs

Mary Louise Leinweber, age 82, went home to be with Jesus after a brief illness on December 11, 2022.  On that day, she had a sweet reunion with her beloved Merle and middle son Mark.

Mary was born to Robert and Edna Devenish, in Denver, CO, on February 26, 1940.  She graduated from East High School and attended the University of CO.  Mary loved math and hoped to follow in her father’s footsteps as an engineer.  God had other plans.  She fell in love and eloped with Merle Leinweber on December 5, 1958.  Nine months later, David was born, followed by Mark and finally, in 1961, John was born.  Mary loved her boys very much and enjoyed being a stay at home mom.  Merle’s job took the family all over the United States and Mary made friends wherever she lived.  While living in Pleasanton, CA, a neighbor led Mary to Jesus and she committed her life to follow Him.

During the summer months, she and the boys stayed at their cabin in Allenspark, CO.  Mary enjoyed the mountains and developed many lifelong friendships with the members of the Guild and the Allenspark Community Church.  When Merle retired, they enjoyed traveling and playing golf together until his passing in 2013.  The last ten years of Mary’s life was spent at McKenzie Place in Colorado Springs.  Mary never met a stranger and she made sure that everyone she came into contact with knew that Jesus loved them.  Mary will be greatly missed by her friends and family, but they have assurance that she is walking in the presence of her Heavenly Father.

Mary is survived by two siblings, Tom and Carol, two sons, David, wife Becky, and John, wife Debbie, five grandchildren, Luke, wife Christina, Rachel, Jon, Breanna, Lance, wife Yasmin and five great grandchildren, Maddox, Ezekiel, Celine, AJ and Elijah.  A service will be held for Mary at Horan-McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd, at 10:00am on December 22.  A private burial will follow.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Allenspark Community Church , P.O. Box 45, Allenspark, CO 80510.

Please share memories and condolences with Mary's family by signing the Tribute Wall.
