Mary Claire Martell

Mary C. Martell, a longtime resident of Littleton, CO passed away on Oct. 31, 2016, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on May 21, 1945, the first-born child of Leo and Elaine(McDougall) Martell (deceased) in Ashland, WI, and was a 1963 graduate of DePadua High School. She graduated from Denver University with a BS in Business Administration. Mary had an adventurous spirit, which prompted her to move to Colorado while in her early twenties, and continued with numerous trips over the years, including those taken with her children, grandchildren and her dear friend Lyn, including an extended trip to France in October 2015. Her passion for travel was contagious; she loved a good red wine and was always looking for a new French restaurant to try. She had a successful career in the financial industry working in banking and for companies servicing the banking industry, Diners Club, Citi Bank and Western Union. Surviving Mary are her two children, Dana (Ryan) Toney, and Ryan Barth (who along with her friend Marsha, provided her with loving care throughout her battle with cancer); her grandsons whom she cherished dearly, Brendan and Dylan; her grand dogs, Jack and Subie, and many dear friends, including her travel buddy, Lyn. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim(Becky)Martell, Ann(Tom)Letko, Jean(Dwight)Ames, and John(Beatrice) Martell, along with her former husband, Frank Barth and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, a sister JoAnn, who passed away shortly after birth and a brother Joseph, who died as a result of a tragic accident at the age of seven. She will be forever in our hearts, we miss you mom! Memorials in her name can be sent to Porter Hospice, 5020 E. Arapahoe Road, Centennial, CO 80122. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 9-11 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial. A funeral will follow at 11 AM.
