Mary Lou Miller

January 3, 1940 — December 10, 2016

Mary Louise Miller, 76, of Lakewood, Colorado entered into eternal rest on December 10, 2016. She was born to John and Theresa Van Anne and was the seventh of 13 children. Mary Lou lived on the family farm in Dalton, Nebraska until she graduated high school in 1958. After high school graduation, Mary Lou headed to Denver and attended St. Mary's College. She soon began working for Denver Public Schools. She met the love of her life, Norman, when she flagged him down and asked for a ride. The rest was history as Norm and Mary Lou were married for 56 years. They had four children: Jennifer, Kevin, Kurt, and Kyle. Her children were her pride and joy and she loved them with all her heart. Mary Lou enjoyed celebrating Bronco or Cornhusker football on the weekends. She was an amazing cook and loved nothing better than to prepare a feast for her family and friends. In fact, she was very much like her mother when it came to baking and cooking. She was always prepared with ample groceries, and could put a meal together quicker than a wink. If a blizzard was to hit Colorado—her house was the place to be. Mary Lou retired from the Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service. Her coworkers often thought she could have actually ran the government and done it well! Music was also a big part of Mary Lou's life. Her passion was religious music and she sang alto in the church choirs at St. Jude Parish and Christ on the Mountain for over 25 years. Choir members are deeply saddened by this loss. One of her favorite hymns was ""The Lord is My Shepherd."" Her love of music was noted throughout her life, especially at Christmas. She joins her daughter Jennifer and her son Kyle in eternal rest. She leaves behind her beloved husband Norm and her sons Kevin and Kurt. Her grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Corinna, Emma, Blake, and Trevor will miss her deeply. Also preceding are her parents John & Theresa Van Anne, brothers Jack, Richard, Jimmy, and sisters Catherine, Marge, and Susie. Mary Lou's surviving siblings include Bob, Amy, Joey, Reenie, Dan, and Terri. Services for Mary Lou Miller Monday, December 19th Viewing from 3 - 7 p.m. Horan & McConaty Funeral Service 3101 S.
