Loving wife, mother, and dedicated educational paraprofessional and substitute teacher, Mary O'Boyle, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
Mary was born on October 11, 1957, the oldest of three children to Eugene and Claire (Liesch) Fox in Northfield, Minnesota.
Mary graduated from Northfield High School in 1976 and went to the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, class of 1980, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
After college, she married the love of her life, Brian O'Boyle, in Northfield, on August 1, 1980. In 1985, she gave birth to her first son, John, and in 1988, she gave birth to her second, David. She raised her sons with love, grace, and compassion, instilling in them the values and worldview to care for others, to live and act with empathy, and to explore their creative and spiritual selves.
In 2002, Mary began her second career as an educational paraprofessional at St. Therese and St. Pius X Catholic Schools, St. Michael the Archangel Preschool, Lotus School for Excellence, and Place Bridge Academy. In the classroom, Mary influenced the lives of many primary school students with her nurturing, graceful demeanor and her commitment to see her students succeed.
Mary's interests and activities included serving on the Advisory Circle of the Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network. Mary and Brian volunteered at St. Michael Catholic Church to lead the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program.
She was a fixture at St. Michael the Archangel, inspiring young adults looking to join the church with her intense spirituality and faith. Many of the individuals she sponsored and mentored considered her a second mom.
Mary was driven to express herself creatively through painting, printmaking, and writing. Her desk in the family home was consistently overflowing with her ideas and drafts. Friends and family regularly received her vibrant, meticulously handcrafted cards filled with handwritten notes for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. The family home is decorated with many of her paintings.
Mary is survived by her husband of 39 years, Brian, sons John, Aurora, CO, and David (Lisa Oberstoetter), Washington, DC. Mother Claire, brothers Mike (Barb Spurrier) and Patrick (Michelle Stanton), and her nephews Charlie, Sam, and Jack as well as her mother-in-law Mary Lou Villalovos (Phil Villalovos), Las Vegas, NV, and her mother-in-law Karen OâBoyle, Denver CO.
Mary was preceded in death by father Eugene and father-in-law James O'Boyle.
