Mary Jane Penrose, 84, Dietician & College Professor, died Saturday after a long illness. Mrs. Penrose taught dietetics, psychology and chemistry courses at Loretto Heights College in Denver for 20 years. She was born on October 22, 1918 to William J. and Mary Ellen Humphrey in Clinton, Iowa. She moved to Maywood, Ill., as a teenager and attended local schools. Mrs. Penrose received a degree from Rosary College and later attended the University of Chicago, where she completed her Master's education. In 1948, she married Edward J. Penrose, they later moved to Denver. She had an affinity for learning and continued studies at the University of Denver, where she received her Master's degree in psychology. She was a renaissance woman and will be remembered as an avid reader, a self-taught computer whiz and carpenter. Mrs. Penrose is preceded in death by a brother, Allen Humphrey. She is survived by her husband, Edward J., daughters, Mary Michelle Penrose and Alishia Ellen Singleton (William), brothers, Jack Humphrey and Leonard Humphrey, three grand- children, Brian Allen Singleton, Janice Michelle Singleton and Valerie Ann Singleton. A Private Service will be held.
