Mary Eleanor Polak (Nepp) went to be with her lord on December 13, 2020.
She was born in Corona, NY on December 23, 1921 to Martin L and Erna H Nepp (Wilker). She moved to Snowmass, Colorado in 1974 and to Denver in 1981.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Polak . She is survived by her children Lloyd F Sweet Jr and his wife Nancy R Sweet in Colorado, Karen E Sweet in Colorado, Brian D Sweet Sr in NY, four grandchildren including Jessie E Sweet (Henry Paepke) and Katie A Sweet (Bruce DeRoo) in Colorado, Christine L Gabriele (Tony Gabriele) in NY, Brian D Sweet Jr (Brenda Sweet) in Pennsylvania, and 9 great grandchildren including Jackson A Sweet, Kinsley Sweet DeRoo, Blakely Sweet DeRoo, Brooke T DeRoo and H Gage Paepke in Colorado.
She received a bachelor and master-of-arts degree from New York University and sang as an opera soloist in Carnegie Hall and other venues on the East coast while in college. She became a public-school music teacher and taught in NY before moving to Colorado. After moving to Colorado, she travelled extensively with her husband Bernie to many places around the US and the world. She loved Colorado and the mountains but loved the experience of seeing new places and meeting new people.
Mary enjoyed travelling, music and art but her passion in life was her family. She loved being a Mom, Grandma, and Oma. We will all miss her kindness, quick wit and endless energy.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held later in the year.
