Mary Catherine Roy

In loving memory of Mary C. Roy, 77, beloved mother and wife, entered into eternal peace with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Mary Catherine Gieser was born October 27, 1932 in Broadhead, Colorado to Rosella and William Gieser. The middle child of five surviving siblings, she grew up in the mining camps of southern Colorado. After graduating from Lamar High School in 1950, Mary worked at a bakery in Lamar. In 1951, Mary met Alphonse Z. (Al) Roy in Colorado Springs, and they married on June 21, 1952. Over the years, Mary and Al welcomed six children. During the first 12 years of their lives together, they moved often as Al's Air Force career took them to Guam and bases throughout the US. When the Roy family finally moved back to Colorado in 1966, they happily settled in north Denver. The six children have presented Mary with the best gift of all, her 17 grandchildren. Four of these grandchildren have continued the blessing in the gift of her 8 great grandchildren. Mary leaves her loved ones with many treasured memories and lessons in life. She valued family and those relationships above everything else. She was a pillar of strength for the family even through her struggles. Because of her love and attention, she will live on in their lives forever. Mary is survived by her husband Al, her children Dennis (Paula) Roy, Mary Jo Busby, David (Kathryn) Roy, Jeffrey (Peggy Proctor) Roy, Michelle (Tom) Robins, Laurie (Tom) Karst, her grandchildren Cynthia Attridge, Christopher Roy, Amanda (Joe) Regan, James Busby, Catherine (Sam Martinez) Busby, Laura Busby, Zachary Roy, Eric Roy, Celina Roy, Nick Cyr, Josh Robins, Stephanie Robins, Jennifer Hinkle, Mara Fell, Carla Fell, Elizabeth Fowler, and Jacob Fowler, and great grandchildren Baylee Attridge, Richard and Rebecca Busby, Matthew Martinez, Dakota, Riley and Skylir Robins, and Alyia Branson. She is also survived by her sister Pat Landreneau of Homestead, FL, and brother Bill (Virgie) Gieser of Las Cruces, NM. A Rosary and Celebration of Mary's life will take place on Monday August 30 at 7pm, preceded by visitation and viewing at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 10am. Both services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7595 N. Federal Blvd, Westminster. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""C"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado, Tuesday at 2:15pm.
