Mary Villard Hoar

Mary Elizabeth Villard Hoar, age 80, passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 28, 2021.

Born on February 17, 1941 in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mary grew up on a farm in Northeastern Kansas. She was a proud graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS and married her high school class- mate, Kenneth Hoar, on August 21, 1963. After graduating, Mary and her husband moved to Union Lake Michigan and welcomed a daughter, Lori, in 1965. Mary then lived in Kansas City, KS, Garden City, KS, Golden, CO, McAllen, TX, and finally Aurora, CO. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and is deeply missed by her family, friends and many loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori MacKenzie and husband Mark of Aurora, CO, her grandchildren Brandon Smith of Aurora, CO, Joy Smith of Centennial, CO, Luke MacKenzie and wife Emily of Pikesville, MD, Caleb MacKenzie and wife Kat of Lakebay, WA, Matthew MacKenzie, of Denver, CO, Seth MacKenzie of Denver, CO, 3 great grandchildren her soon-to-be great son-in-law Cameron Waters of Centennial, CO, and her “children of her heart,” Karrie Jo Johnson Nelson, Jennie Johnson, Shay Johnson and Amy Johnson Adair. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hoar and her parents Carl and Joy Villard.

Mary wished to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 8, 2021 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO. Relatives and close friends are welcome to attend the memorial service followed by a reception at the same location. The service will be live streamed for those that cannot attend.
