Mary Delle Welton

February 11, 1938 — August 3, 2015

Mary Delle Fancier was born February 11, 1938 in Monterey Park, California. She was raised and lived with her parents in El Monte, California. Della (as most know her) graduated from El Monte High School in 1958. Her husband Bob also went to the same school but they never met. She also attended Pasadena City College for one year. She then took her first job at Pacific Telephone Co. In 1959 she met her husband-to-be in a young people's hang out called The Old Heidelberg Inn. One year later she was Mary Delle Welton. After living in several different locations they bought their first home in Covina, California which was near most of her relatives who she adored and was extremely close to. There were many family get togethers that usually included card games. Della gave birth to Tracy in September of 1961 and Craig in June 1963. She couldn't have been a better mother and handled every tough situation like the loving mother she was. Della loved making artistic things: sewing, flower arranging, and doing anything to brighten a home. This led her to a teaching job in a regional occupational program where she instructed teenage kids' arts and crafts. As her kids grew up she enjoyed playing tennis. She also loved our trips to Lake Powell where she water skied and put up with Bob's fishing. Camping at Lake Naciamento was another favorite. In 1979 Bob was transferred to Colorado. Della hated leaving her family and friends and putting Tracy and Craig in a new high school, but making new friends came easy and led to more tennis, learning to snow ski, playing golf, and bicycling around the many trails in Littleton. In February of 1989 grandkids began arriving: Ashley, Kyle, and Nichole. Della couldn't be a better Nonnie. She passed on all the attributes she possessed and help make them the wonderful people they are. Her real love was interior design and she partnered with the owner of unicorn antiques. This experience led her to own her own business, Cottage Interiors. She was at her happiest designing interiors for many homes and businesses in the Denver area. Besides her own work, Della helped with a coin operated car wash. Bob was still working and she often drove the 40 plus miles to check on it. The year 2000 was the start of great happiness because we sold the damn car wash. Also in the year 2000 Tracy, Ashley, and Nichole moved into our home. Della reinstated her parenting skills and loved every minute. She continued her career but it became secondary. Road trips with grandkids became pleasure. She hated the long drives to Michigan, Illinois, and California but loved the destinations. After many years of driving kids to schools, friend's houses, teaching them to swim, and drive (driving with Nichole was brutal), they became old enough to drive themselves. After Tracy and family all moved to their own homes retirement was on the agenda, but Della continued decorating with a few great clients. In the year 2012 figuring became too difficult and Della decided not to continue working. The next years became difficult to do usual things. The last 3 months became the most difficult for all. In some point of all lives, heaven is better than Earth. Della lived a good life benefiting all those around her. She will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 11:00 am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado, 80122, with visitation one hour prior.
