Mary Kay Jenkins was born January 25, 1954 in West Point, Nebraska to Leonard “Mitch” and Helen Mitchell. When she was 4 the family moved to Colorado Springs. After attending Palmer High School, she enrolled in Radiological Technology School at St. Francis Hospital.
Upon completion of her certification, she had a long and fulfilling career working for Penrose Hospital and Colorado Springs Medical Center and then moving to Denver to work for Orthopedic Associates for 26 years. During that time she also staffed the X-ray facility at the Pepsi Center for 17 years serving the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Team and the Denver Nuggets Basketball Team.
Expressing her love of all animals she volunteered for 14 years for Denver Dumb Friends League at the Harmony Equine Center where she could love on all the horses. She said she couldn’t work with dogs because she would bring them all home.
In 1995 Mary Kay married the love of her life, Dr. Tom Jenkins and they recently celebrated their 27th anniversary.
Mary Kay is survived by her loving husband Tom, stepson Christopher, her mother, Helen, her sisters Patty (Jim) Romines and SueAnn (Paul) Lee, nephews Tim Romines and Daniel Kleinheitz, nieces Tamra Romines Misak and Tiffany Kleinheitz.
She was preceded in death by her father Leonard “Mitch” Mitchell.
