Matthew Case “Casey” Cosby, age 45, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Casey was a skilled journeyman electrician, contributing to numerous commercial construction and remodeling projects throughout Steamboat Springs and the Denver metro area. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent much of his life immersed in nature—camping, scuba diving, fishing, and paddleboarding. He was artistically gifted, using mixed media to express himself on paper, creating framed art his family and friends will always cherish. Casey also loved music, amassing a huge record collection and equipment which allowed him to serve as a DJ.
He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Recently, Casey moved from Steamboat Springs to Denver to be closer to his family. He was affectionately known as “Silly Uncle Casey” by his nieces and nephew, bringing joy and laughter with his playful, childlike spirit. In recent years, Casey found solace in a deepening spiritual connection as he grew in his Christian faith. He was known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, embracing life with an adventurous and uninhibited spirit.
Casey is survived by his daughter Tyler Clemente-Legg, mother Elizebeth Howard, father and stepmother Michael and Anne Cosby, brother Michael (Nicole) Cosby, stepsister Shannon (Jay) Johnson, stepbrother Eric Peterson, stepsister Stacia Howard (Darryl Lujan), and his beloved nieces and nephew.
A Memorial Service and cremated remains burial will be held on Saturday, October 26, at Eleven O'Clock in the Morning with a Reception to follow at St. Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church located at 6190 East Quincy Avenue, Cherry Hills Village, Colorado 80111.
