Matthew Grayson Johnson, 32, passed away on September 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at home. He fought a 3-year intense and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1983 in Arvada, Colorado to Thomas and Chloe' Coon Johnson. Matt worked for Republic Airways for the last 5 years as an Aircraft Dispatcher. He was devoted to his job and equally devoted to the ""family"" of people that he worked with. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Matt was blessed with many opportunities to serve and reach out to others. Matt was always known for wanting to be one of the first to volunteer or lend a hand to anyone in need. His deep love and passion for Aviation was well known and he always took pride in being able to decipher the type of plane that was flying above him just by hearing the sound of it in the sky. Matt found a way to use aviation to teach lessons in his home with his children, with friends, and in his callings at Church. He was an avid lover of legos as well as constructing and painting model airplanes that still hang today in his childhood bedroom. Above all, Matt loved his family fiercely and unconditionally, and valued the importance and meaning of an eternal family. His love for the Lord and his unwavering faith sustained him to the very end. Matt will forever be rememberd as a loving, hands-on father, uncle and son who loved life and believed in living it to the fullest. He shared a special bond with each of his children and each of his nieces and nephew had a special place in his heart. He warmed the hearts of family and friends with enthusiasm for the things he loved and possessed a deep rooted dedication to making others around him laugh. Matt is survived by his loving wife, Sunshine Johnson; their precious children: Eliana (5), Kayden (4), and Eden Johnson (3); his parents, Tom and Chloe' Johnson; and his brother, Benjamin Thomas (wife, Marlena) Johnson. Matt is also survived by countless loving and caring extended family members and friends and will be missed by many. A viewing for Matt will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2015, from 6:00-8:00pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7405 South Addison Court, Aurora, Colorado 80015. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015, at 11:00am, also at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7405 South Addison Court, in Aurora. Burial will be at St. Simeon Cemetery, 22001 E. State Highway, Aurora, CO 80018, immediately following the service.
