Matthew ""Mattie"" Moore

February 4, 1986 — July 21, 2019

With profound sorrow we announce that Matthew "" Mattie"" James Moore, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend to many, passed suddenly on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 while in the hospital. There are no words to describe our loss.

Born on February 4, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Matt moved to Colorado when he was 12. He attended Highlands Ranch High School and received his degree from Denver University in 2009.

Mattie will be missed immensely every day by his Father, Larry Moore, his Mother Gale, his sister Carrie Hogan (Ed) his niece Elle and nephew Cade, his many aunts, uncles and cousins and his many, many friends. We all loved him so much and he shared his great big heart full of love with each of as he traveled his journey.

Along with Matt's big heart was the greatest smile ever. That smile would instantly light up a room and melt your heart. He had a big personality, an infectious adventuresome spirit and was warm to friends and strangers alike. He often said his Dad was his best friend and they shared many golf outings and fly-fishing trips together. He was by his Dad's side for the last 10 years and was an amazing business partner. Matt was a loving son and best friend to his mother often joining her in the kitchen to cook and would have good-natured gardening competitions with his mom. He was always game for visiting an art museum. Matt loved everything about living in Colorado, loved the Colorado sports teams and Denver was his favorite place to come home to.

Matt loved all sports but especially golf, hockey and snowboarding. Vail Mountain was his favorite mountain for epic rides on his board. He was in awe of the natural wonder of this planet and enjoyed his time in the Colorado Mountains and Alaska, visiting family in Italy and France and was always ready for a beach vacation to Mexico or Hawaii. He loved music and concerts at RedRocks. Rock on Matt!

Matt was a good, kind young man who was a loyal friend and son and we are all fortunate to have had him in our lives. He left a piece of himself with all of us. He so loved his dogs Roman and Luca despite their slobber. Luca remains behind to love and support Gale and Larry. We have lost a great shining light from our hearts and for that we are truly heartbroken. Matt's beautiful soul lives on and will be there to light up our sunsets and rainbows. Matt's last message to all was ""Take care of each other, love unconditionally, do not judge and be kind.""

Due to the heartbreaking process of grieving the loss of our beloved son Matt, the public Celebration of Life scheduled for September 21st at the Horan & McConaty chapel in Highlands Ranch has been cancelled. We appreciate your patience and continued expressions of love and support at this time.

In lieu of flowers, if you care to donate, please send donations in Matt's name to the Denver Dumb Friends League. He loved supporting the Furry Scurry every year at Wash Park.
