Matthew Robert Roe, 33, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2025, and after a long illness our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Matt, has gone home to be with God.
Matt was born November 6, 1991, to Mark and Sue Roe, in San Diego, California. Matt was their gift from God and they cherished his laughter, smile, kindness, thoughtfulness, and most of all his love for God. Matt was a shining light to everyone who was hurting, and he constantly brought hope and encouragement to their hearts through his love, wisdom, and humor. They will forever carry their precious son’s compassionate spirit in their hearts. He was very close with his cherished brother, Ryan. Growing up with each other they not only had shared experiences, but a deep bond of understanding and were each other’s rock of support, laughter, intellectual prowess, spiritual insights, and friendship. Matt and Ryan are their parents’ heart, and they have great pride in their beautiful sons and just how close they have been all their life. Mark and Sue were grateful to grow their family when they welcomed their daughters, Meaghan and Kelly, the great love of their sons’ lives, expanding their family heart, soul, and love.
Matt is survived by his adoring wife, Meaghan Law, and their beloved dog, Nala, of their Littleton home. Matt is survived by his dear parents, Mark and Sue Roe, of Centennial, his beloved brother, Ryan (Kelly) of Denver, grandmother, Rogene Roberts of Lone Tree, Aunts, Diane Touchet of Louisiana, Patty Roe, and Lynn Daher of Georgia. Matt would want you to know his “big sister,” Sasha McCoy, who is grieving deeply the loss of her dearest friend.
Meaghan and Matt met at the University of Northern Colorado and shared fifteen years as a couple. They were the one and only great love of each other’s life, deeply in love. Matt was predeceased by their beloved dog, Lucy, who was found walking along the path outside their college home and dropped in like the angel she was right on their doorstep.
Meaghan wishes for you to know that Matt was the most deeply spiritual person that she knew, and she cherished the hours they spent discussing philosophy and spirituality. Matt was an avid reader who could spend hours in a bookstore looking for any new pearl of wisdom that he could later share. Meaghan’s favorite memories of her beloved Matt included sitting at their kitchen table talking for hours, his keen ability to guide her in being her authentic self, to set healthy boundaries and to stand up for herself from a space of honor and respect. Matt meditated daily and felt profound compassion for the intense suffering in our world, which he mourned deeply.
Meaghan and Matt were each other’s best friends and would always go on adventures together enjoying all kinds of travel, hiking, and most especially getaways to the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. In 2019, the couple married in a self-solemnized ceremony in the mountain town of Silver Plume, sharing their love story and their vows of eternal love, friendship and great joy in uniting as husband and wife.
Matt was Meaghan’s all-time favorite person and she his. The couple shared the joys and struggles of life together, united in cherishing their precious moments together. Meaghan will desperately miss waking up every day next to Matt and his warm hugs and boundless unconditional love for her. He saw her gifts ever so clearly and ever supported her in bringing her gifts to the world. She will deeply miss her best friend, her beloved husband, and her twin flame, until they meet again.
The family wishes to share Matt’s phenomenal qualities in loving remembrance. Matt was incredibly wise, deeply spiritual, and had a heart of gold. Matt tried to help so many with his ever-loving presence and non-judgmental space for individuals who were struggling with mental health crises to be able to share their emotional struggles freely. Matt was a devoted advocate for supporting the mental health of all who struggled. His most cherished career position was in his work with the 988 Crisis Line, where his bountiful gifts were shared freely with those in deep pain. He had a remarkable gift for making any stranger welcome to share their life story, giving space to express their deepest emotions, knowing he was receiving their life story with an open heart and open mind, overflowing with compassion and kindness.
Matt’s family will come together for a private, intimate family remembrance of Matt’s remarkable life, wearing blue and purple ribbons (his favorite colors). Matt will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We love him forever and always.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley at 2129 W Chenango Ave Unit A Littleton, CO 80120.
