Maureen Helen Chagnon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend to many. Born November 24th, 1940 In Chicago, Illinois to Alvan J. Arnold and Margaret (McEneely) Arnold. Sister to, Alvan Arnold, Tom Arnold and Veronica Griffith.
Born in Chicago, raised in Tucson, Arizona, Maureen graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1958. She continued her education, earning an associate’s degree from the University of Arizona. After high school she meets a young man from Worcester, Massachusetts living next door, Donald J. Chagnon and they married July 22nd, 1961. They had five boys Don, Jim, Brian, Mike, and Keith.
Maureen was an outstanding scouting mother as her husband Don and five boys spent many summers and weekends camping and hiking. One summer while camping near the boys at summer camp in the Chiricahua Mountains of Sothern Arizona, she earned her infamous moniker “The Chiricahua Chicken”.
Maureen worked for Golden Eagle Distributors before moving to Denver in 1979 where she worked for Dixon paper which became International Paper before retiring in 2004.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband Don her parents Alvan and Margaret, her brothers Alvan, Tom and her sister Veronica. Maureen is survived by her 5 boys, Don (Julie), Jim (Colleen), Brian (Chrystal), Mike (Dana), and Keith (Molly), 16 grand children, 15 great grand children and two great great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was often heard to say “whatever you kids want is fine by me”.
Maureen passed into the Lord’s Arms May 29th, 2024 in Thornton, Colorado. She will be dearly missed.
