Maureen Rodgers

December 22, 1922 — September 28, 2018

Born in London, England December 22, 1922, the eldest of 4 children. In 1941 at age 19 she enlisted in the British Royal Navy, women's division called the WRNS. She was sent to a highly secretive operation called Station X at Bletchley Park and worked in Hut 11 as a Bombe operator, decoding German Enigma messages. She was sworn to secrecy for 30 years after WWII. It was not until 1974 that Maureen's husband and family learned what she did in the war.

She married U.S. Captain Maurice Rodgers in 1946 and sailed for a new life in America. Dr. Rodgers preceded her in death in November, 1998. They are survived by their 5 children: Michele (Robert) Littell, Anne (Richard) Rodgers-Rhyme, Michael (Sharon), Timothy, and Thomas, 6 grandchildren: Jamieson Rhyme, Emily Rodgers, Lauren Rodgers, Alex Rodgers, Elizabeth Rodgers, Ryan Rodgers and 3 great grandchildren: Stella and Jackson DiGirolamo and Evangeline Rhyme.

Maureen became a US citizen (Certificate of Naturalization) on December 16, 1977. In 1980 she received a BA from Morgan State University and in 1984 a masters degree as a Registered Dietitian from Goucher College, both in Baltimore MD.

A celebration of life will be held on October 20, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mark's Catholic church, Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In lieu of flowers that family suggests that any contribution be made in Maureen's name to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and brought to the church.
