Maureen "Mo" Beal

September 25, 1936 — October 30, 2022

Aurora

On Sunday, October 30, 2022, Maureen “Mo” Mae (Misner) Beal passed away at the age of 86 from metastatic bladder cancer and dementia with her family by her side. Mo was born on September 25, 1936, in Bend, Oregon where she was active with Sun River Janitorial, a housekeeping business she and her husband Dick built and managed for more than 40 years. It was such a pleasure to care for the clients and homes in Sun River, a job mom enjoyed immensely. She graduated from Bend Highschool and attended beauty school to become a hairdresser. Mo loved hairdressing and was asked by the Oregon Hairdressers association to train new hairdressers throughout the state.

In 1958, she married Richard “Dick” Beal on October 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Bend, Oregon. They were married for 63 years. Mo and Dick had two children, Dawn Renee Beal of Grandville, Michigan, and Sydney Joyce (Beal) Martin of Denver, Colorado, and two grandchildren Bryan Martin and his wife, Neda Shefa of San Francisco, CA; and Camille Dawn (Martin) Woomer and her husband Mitchell Woomer of Centennial, Colorado. Mo loved her children, and nothing pleased her more than to buy Christmas gifts for her family and cook. She loved music and enjoyed Dawn’s trumpet performances and talent. Mo loved watching her grandkids grow up and become adults with jobs and passions they loved. Mo had friends she loved and cherished that meant the world to her.

Mo and Dick moved to Aurora, Colorado to be near family in their last years of life. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick in 2021. Mo loved her last days at Shalom Park Nursing Home in Centennial, Colorado. She was exuberant, talkative, and social with many friends. She enjoyed the other residents and care partners and was quite active visiting and loved manicures. Mo filled the room with her smile and her love of Chico’s clothes and immaculate hair and was loved by all. Mo enjoyed making stained glass, cooking, and traveling and horseracing. She loved to take trips along the Oregon Coast and watch Yellowstone.

Mo was preceded in death by her mother Margeurite Dorothy (Joyce) Tharp of Bend, Oregon, and her father Clarence Misner of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and stepfather Norman Tharp of Bend, Oregon.

Maureen and Richard “Mo and Dick” will be placed to rest back home in Cascade Memorial Gardens in June 2023. A small funeral will be held in Denver, Colorado on March 4, 2023, at Horan & MConaty Funeral home.
