Maurice “Butch” Lutwack died peacefully at his home in Broomfield, Colorado surrounded by his family.
Butch attended Amherst Central High School, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. He graduated from the University of Miami, FL and received an Advanced Degree from the University of Buffalo.
He also played two years in the AFL for Buffalo Bills football team before they were an official part of the NFL.
Butch taught two years of elementary school in New York where he met his future wife, Kathleen Quinlan. Rather than the risk of being drafted, Butch stepped up and decided to join the United States Air Force (USAF). Butch served many years as an officer in the Air Force including a tour in Vietnam. There are no “good” follow up words here, as he rarely spoke about Vietnam, though he did mention just a few days prior to his passing listening to Frank Sinatra with his service buddies. Let’s just hope Frank shows Butch how to do it “My Way.” He retired from the Air Force as a Major, after serving 20 years.
Butch went on to have a successful career in real estate and eventually started his own company, Countryside Homes & Real Estate. Up until the day he passed, he loved business and people.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and his reason for being, Kathy. She was and will always be his everything. Butch’s only real hobby was his unconditional love for his wife and family.
Butch is proudly survived by his beautiful wife Kathleen, his son Gregory (Jennifer, wife), his daughter Kristin Heinold (Shane, husband). “Papa” is also survived by his only granddaughter Madison Baca, daughter of Butch’s eldest son Jonathan (deceased). He also leaves behind two beloved sisters, Linda Lutwack-Ablin and Dr. Patricia Lutwack-Bloom.
In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made to the Denver Rescue Mission or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
