Maximillian Harold Roth was born September 20, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska. He was the son of Harold J. and Margaret E. Roth. He died August 8, 2010 in Loveland, Colorado, at the age of 79. He was truly a child of the great depression. Max grew up in Hastings and graduated from Saint Cecilia High School in 1949. He attained a degree in Flora Culture and Ornamental Horticulture from Kansas State University in 1952. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the U. S. Army and served with the 5th Armoured Division during the Korean War. On September 29, 1955 he married Ardis Gaunt. They made their first home in Ottuma, Iowa, where he worked for Interstate Nurseries. In 1957 they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he became the Chief Florist at the Broadmoor Hotel. In 1960 he became a broker in the floral industry for the Fred Gloeckner Company of New York City, New York. He retired to the family home in Denver, Colorado in 1995. Max is survied by his wife of 55 years and three children: Kathryn Roth and her husband Sam of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Jeanne Meyer of Greeley, Colorado, and Daniel Roth and his wife Donna of Fort Collins, Colorado. There are three grandchildren, Benjamin, Ilana, and Clayton. He leaves a legacy of service to his country, a profound love of nature, and family values forged in the crucible of the Great Depression.
