Melba Rae Rugg

Melba Rae Woods was born June 8, 1934 in Montrose Colorado to Everett C. and Leona Hays Woods. She died peacefully on June 25, 2004. She attended the University of Denver where she met her life partner, Donald E. Rugg, they married in 1953. Melba's career took her to the University of Denver (Denver Research Institute) and then to ADA Tech, Inc. where she coordinated Federal security clearances. Melba was very active in the National Paraplegia Foundation (NPF) and received many awards for her work with the handicapped. She was also actively involved with Craig Rehabilitation Hospital for many years. Melba was active in numerous civic organizations including the Optimist Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Don and by brothers Everett Carlus Woods & Donald C. Woods & infant sister Dorothy Jean Woods. She is survived by brothers John E. Woods & Richard D. Woods, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. Services will be held Friday, July 16, 10am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 S. Parker Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Melba's memory to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation 3425 S. Clarkson Street, Englewood, CO 80113.
