Melissa Sulyn Johnson died in her home in Arvada, CO on December 13, 2024 at the age of 54. She was born to Benny and Deborah Horton November 22, 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas, the eldest of 6 children. After being sealed for time and all eternity to Paul Edward Johnson in the Dallas, Texas LDS Temple, they lived 34 years together and anticipate being together forever in the resurrection.
Throughout her life, Melissa loved music. She sang, learned to play piano as a child, and continued playing through life.
She listened to music that let her express her wild side. And she listened to music that brought her peace and relief. Music had
a powerful effect on her state of mind and she was happy to experience all types of music. She enjoyed watching happy movies and reading. Her greatest joy was in being a mother and friend.
She was preceeded in death by her sister, Emily Horton. She is survived by her husband, Paul, her sons,
David Lee Johnson and Seth Horton Johnson, and her grandson Chase Horton Johnson. She is also survived by her parents,
Benny and Deborah Endsley Horton, her sisters, Jessica Horton Bringhurst and Amanda Horton Isaac, and her brothers,
Gerald Horton and Ethan Horton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, at the Alkire building of the Church of Jesus Christ of
