Melva ""Mel"" Hills

July 14, 1944 — April 30, 2019

Melva “Mel” Hills, 74, passed away on April 30, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Kirk Hills; son, Chad Hills (Jennifer); and four grandchildren, Katie LaCombe (Trent), Arianna Hills, Ben Hills, and Eli Hills.

Melva Hills attended Fort Lewis College receiving her secretarial science degree. Later she became an airline hostess for Braniff International Airways. Her flying career lasted no longer than a year when Kirk Hills clipped her ""wings"" and married her on December 20th, 1964. Later she returned to college to receive her bachelor of elementary education degree. She taught for one year at Park Hill Elementary School in Denver until her only son Chad was born in 1968. She later became a Home Interiors and Gifts manager for 10 years.

She and her husband Kirk later became real estate agents working with RE/MAX alliance for a period of 30 years. During their real estate careers Melva and Kirk handled two large, successful projects both located on the edge of Cherry Creek state park - these include: Park Place Villas and The Overlook at Cherry Creek.

As fruits of their labor from real estate the Hills were able to build an exquisite log home in Grand Lake, on the North fork of the Colorado river, adjacent to the Rocky Mountain National Park. This cabin was a special place where Melva and Kirk made some of their favorite memories together, as well as with their son, daughter in-law and grandchildren. They spent many special ""Nana and Papa"" weeks with the grandkids in the mountains, sharing many laughs around the campfire, seeing a great amount of wildlife, and eating way too many s’mores and marshmallows.

Kirk and Melva enjoyed the silence and beauty of the Rocky Mountains through hiking and capturing their beautiful surroundings through photography. However, Melva really had to keep a short leash on Kirk as he would often get carried away taking too many photos. Melva and Kirk loved living life together, they enjoyed many breakfasts with a steaming cup of coffee on their cabin deck. Every evening they enjoyed searching for shooting stars, making wishes and embracing the night sky with their eyes. Fall was one of their favorite seasons, where the air became crisp, the leaves turned to fire and the Hills enjoyed walking through the magnificent colors of nature hand-in-hand. For many years, Melva and Kirk loved worshiping their Lord together at Fellowship Community Church. The church has been a supportive spiritual family and encouraged their walk with Christ

Having accomplished extensive traveling through Ports of Call Travel Club Melva and Kirk were able to explore the world, enjoying beautiful scenery and sharing memorable moments with family and friends. They enjoyed many trips to destinations such as: Mexico, the Caribbean, the Grand Caymans, Antigua, Eleuthera, San Carlos, Exuma, Disney World, Butchart Gardens, and her finale trip - Europe. Where she and her husband enjoyed an extensive tour of Europe and experienced sites such as: Pompeii, Rome, Venice and other sites in Italy; destinations in France; Switzerland; and sites in England.

Having been married for 54 years Kirk is going to miss his beloved wife, Melva, that he did everything with; he will miss her gentle presence and the graceful rhythm of life she brought to him. Her husband and family is comforted to know that Melva is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus. She will forever be remembered in our hearts and in our community.
