Mercedes LaVay Peebles

Mercedes LaVay Peebles, 98 of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away peacefully July 24, 2019. She was born to her parents Edd E. and Stella D. (Corrigan) Reichstein on July 18, 1921 in Kearney, Nebraska.

Mercedes graduated from Mary Lanning School of Nursing in 1943. She served in the Philippines and Japan as a US Army Nurse in WWII (1945/1946). Mercedes later worked as a Surgical Nurse Supervisor at Boulder Memorial Hospital until 1950.

Mercedes was very active in many patriotic and political organizations and always enjoyed the company of her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: John D. Peebles, and brother: Robert Reichstein. Mercedes is survived by children Michael (Jacquee) Peebles and Deborah Peebles. She will truly be missed.

In honor of Mercedes, a Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at WindCrest Retirement Community (in the High Line Overlook bldg. – Arts & Entertainment Center)
