She met her future husband, Ralph, during her school years in Virgil and married him in June 1942. Meredith was an accomplished homemaker and raised two sons, Clark and Kurt. Meredith's family moved frequently while Ralph pursued a career in the Air Force. At each stop Meredith make many new friends with whom she has kept in touch. Meredith has lived for the past thirty or so years in Denver, a place with which she fell in love. She loved the mountain vistas in view from her lanai, the season changes and the warm summers. She and Ralph traveled the world, from the great pyramids of Egypt to Greece; from the Panama Canal to the capitols of Europe, and Russia and to the Great Wall of China. Recently, with her health failing she moved to Stayton, Oregon to live with her son Clark and daughter-in-law Paddee. Meredith was predeceased by her husband Ralph who died naturally in 1999, and her youngest son Kurt, who was killed in Viet Nam, which was her greatest life disappointment. Both are buried Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver where Meredith will join them upon interment. Meredith is survived by her son Clark, daughter-in-law Paddee, of Stayton, Oregon; her brother Monte Commons and his wife, Teresa of Littleton, Colorado, her brother Bob Commons and his wife Bety, of Emporia, Kansas; Alixanna Olson, a life friend and confidant of Oceanside, California, four grandchildren who adore her and nine great grandchildren.
