Michael Amidei

August 16, 1953 — May 13, 2016

Michael Donald Amidei, AKA Handsome Mike, 62, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on Friday, May 13th, 2016, while on a golf trip in San Antonio, Texas. He was born August 16th, 1953, in Walsenburg, Colorado to parents Don and Vera Amidei. He was a proud father, a loving brother, an adoring husband, the most fun grandfather you'd ever meet, and was that one person you just couldn't wait to see. Mike was raised in Englewood, Colorado, on Elati St. with his older brother Mark and younger sister Lori. He was raised in a neighborhood full of love and long time family friends. Mike was a graduate of Englewood High School and Western State University, in Gunnison, Colorado. A true family man, his greatest pride were his two sons, Joe and Jack. He was head over heels for his wife, Sher and her children Saylee and Slade. This past year Mike had the joy of seeing his son Jack, marry Reanna Trottier, in Grand Junction, Colorado. In addition, one of his greatest joys was caring for his dog Lucy. His passions included taking care of his family, golfing and watching any sporting event, especially baseball. He loved Christmas and the 4th of July, and was known to sing the national anthem at almost every opportunity. Mike was never a stranger to mischief. He would light off fireworks year round, hit golf balls in inappropriate places, and supply Nerf guns and water cannons to the family in Gruver, Texas. There was so much to admire about Mike and whether he knew you or not he would greet you with his signature grin, his warm personality and you could feel his zest for life. Mike was someone who genuinely cared for all his family and friends with his kind and compassionate soul. He truly lived up to the quote: ""I'm gonna live till I die."" – Frank Sinatra Mike is survived by: wife Sher; his children Joe Amidei, and Jack and Reanna Amidei; brother Mark and sister Lori; stepchildren Saylee and Rob Van Valkenburgh, Slade Kerschen and his fiancé Stephanie Payne; granddaughter Lily; nephews Luke, Vince, and Max Blaser; the Texas tribe; the Garramone family; as well as a host of beloved family and friends.
