Michael Anthony Blaney

March 31, 1955 — December 27, 2013

Mike Blaney of Littleton, Colorado, originally of Newark, Ohio and previously of Annapolis, Maryland, went to heaven to meet his wife Caroline Meyer Blaney on Friday December 27, 2013. He leaves behind his beautiful children, Cole and Isabella Blaney. Mike's love of the mountains brought him to Colorado after graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Here he met the love of his life, wife, Caroline Meyer Blaney, where their son Cole was born. The family moved to Annapolis Maryland where daughter, Isabella was born. Mike is a 1973 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. Mike and Caroline were lovers of life and family, married in Jamaica in 1992, traveling to beaches in Mexico, Florida, the Pacific Coast and the Islands. In Colorado, Mike began work in Accounting, later started his own painting company, then spent most of his working years in hotel renovation management. Being on the move, was a better fit for Mike's boundless energy. After his wife Caroline passed, Mike became a stay-at-home Dad making his children his top priority. The family later returned to Colorado. Mike adored his children and spent many opportunities traveling, skiing, and hiking with his son Cole. He also liked to travel throughout the U.S., Hawaii and Costa Rica with his daughter Bella and Cole; frequently with Isabella's many friends in tow. His love of the outdoors made Mike the world's best tour guide, as he loved to share the beautiful lands he lived both at the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and in the Colorado Mountains. As a geography and history buff (who always won in Trivial Pursuit), Mike developed an incredible talent, becoming an outstanding photographer, creating equally amazing photos of his family and the amazing scenes he loved to enjoy with friends and family. His love of travel took Mike to 49 of the 50 states, with Alaska next on his list - an achievement he was very proud of, along with his hikes throughout Colorado. Mike planted the seed for a love of travel in his son, Cole, who's nature photography rivals his father's. Mike's joy for living, love of friends and a zest for life has been passed on to both Isabella and Cole and his children will dearly miss the influence of their father's love for them, love of nature and wisdom in life. Mike was the oldest of five children and enjoyed many happy and joyful times with his family on both sides, always planning the road trips or outdoor adventures along the way. Mike is preceded in death by his wife Caroline Meyer Blaney. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his son Cole, daughter Isabella, parents Conrad and Bev Blaney, brother Ken Blaney (Jody), sisters Jan Schrad (Jerry), Kathy Annarino (Phil), Jessica Ramsey (Rex), mother-in-law Carol Meyer (Ron), brother-in-law Donald (Abby); along with nieces and nephews, Adam, Sarah, Ben, Tyler, Zachary, Brian, Eric, Emily, Stephen, Piper, Zane, Dana, Danielle, Tommy; and many devoted and fun friends. Services to be held Friday, January 3, 2014, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Rd. Centennial, 80122. Visitation at noon, Chapel Service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, a Mike Blaney Children Memorial Fund has been set up through Key Bank (5501 S. Broadway, Littleton, Colorado 80121 or any Key Bank location).
