Michael H. Burns, age 75, of Denver, CO, passed away on February 24, 2022, with his family by his side. Born in Denver on November 28, 1946, Mike was the youngest of four boys. He graduated from East High School. While attending college at Metro, he met and later married the love of his life, Terri (Powers), his wife of 56 years. Together they have 2 children: Scott Burns (Leah Prochnow) and Kelli (Joe) Dillon; along with four grandchildren: Jake, Andy, Hailey, and Madison.
Mike worked for the Denver Water Department for 33 years and was a member of the American Water Works Association. During his tenure, he was recognized for his work with the Distinguished Service Award and the Fuller Award.
In his retirement, Mike was always busy. He was happy playing golf, volunteering with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program, his daily walks around the neighborhood, making new friends, and enjoying time with old friends. Mike loved music and dancing with his wife, and popped corn that people loved & put Orville Redenbacher to shame.
Mike was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren, never missing an activity, performance or sporting event. He loved the Rocky Mountains, Hawaiian beaches, a smooth Irish Whiskey and a good pie. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Rather than a traditional funeral, the family will hold a Celebration of Life later this year.
