Michael Courtney

Michael J. Courtney, 88, passed away on May 4, 2022. Born February 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Michael and Helen Courtney. He was an accomplished swimmer, competing competitively as well as serving as a lifeguard in the Chicago area. Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953. He served a portion of his enlistment at the Cold Weather Battalion Marine Corps training facility in Bridgeport, California, where he was honorably discharged in 1955. Michael returned to Chicago, where he married Arlene Griffone in March of 1956.

Michael enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family in Colorado. He was self-employed as the Appliance Doctor and was proud to service the Westminster and the greater Denver areas for over 40 years. Michael is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene, and their children; Michael, his wife, Sara, and their three children John, Jo Marie, and Hana; Terri, her husband, Pat, and their daughter, Stephanie; Timothy and his wife, Kellie, and their two children, Ian and Loren. Michael is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia.

Memorial services will take place at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either the Denver Rescue Mission or the Salvation Army.
