Michael Dwain Stewart was born on February 7, 1948, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Eartha Dorsey and Eugene Stewart. As one of 13 children, Michael grew up surrounded by love and hard work. In his high school years, he moved to Colorado, where he graduated from Manual High School in Denver. He later earned a business degree from Metropolitan State College.

Michael dedicated over 40 years of his career as a Central Services Support Supervisor for the City and County of Denver. Alongside his professional life, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning several medals and achieving the rank of Sergeant.

In 1982, Michael met the love of his life, Zoraida Reyes, on Halloween night. They were married on August 4, 1984, and together raised two children, Ronald M. Stewart and Eartha A. Stewart. Michael was a devoted husband and father, always ensuring his family was well cared for. He instilled values of humility, responsibility, and respect in his children, leading by example with unwavering integrity and love.

Michael’s passion for sports was unmatched. A loyal fan of the OU Sooners and all Colorado teams, Sundays in the Stewart home were dedicated to sports. The TVs were always tuned in, and the family gathered to cheer alongside him, win or lose. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and excitement.

More than just a sports fan, Michael was his grandchildren’s biggest supporter. Known affectionately as “Pompa,” he rarely missed their school or sporting events, and if he couldn’t attend, they made sure to share every detail with him afterward. His love, encouragement, and signature hugs will forever be treasured by Destine, Carter, Jason, and Caelan.

A man of deep faith, Michael placed God at the center of his life and family. His strength, guidance, and unwavering belief provided comfort and stability to all who knew him. His words of wisdom and gentle reminders to “slow down” will echo in the hearts of his loved ones forever. Michael is reunited in heaven with his parents and siblings Albert, Bill, Betty June, Florence, Wanda, Ellen, Lorraine, Evelyn Ann, Jacquelyn, and Patricia.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Zoraida Stewart; children Ronald Stewart and Eartha “Ashley” Stewart, (Teco) Shaw; and grandchildren Destine, Carter, Jason, and Caelan. His sister, Kay (Gary) Kuykendall, along with extended family and friends, remain to celebrate his incredible legacy.

The Stewart family deeply appreciates your kind words, prayers, and shared memories. Though Michael has gained his wings, his spirit remains in the hearts of those who loved him. As he often said, “There is nothing the Stewart family cannot overcome.”
