Michael George

Denver’s Italian son, Michael John George, age 77, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital on December 24, 2020.

Born May 30, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, Michael lived primarily in Denver his entire life, only spending a short time in Tucson, Arizona, during his youth.  Between 1961 and 1967, Michael served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.  After serving with the Marines, Michael joined the Denver Fire Department in 1967, provided 35 years of service, retiring as Captain in 2002. Michael was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic parish.

Michael was survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Dorothy J. George (Denver, CO), his sister Linda J. Gardner (The Colony, TX) his four children Maria L. George (Denver, CO), Anthony M. George and wife Viki P. George (St. Charles, MO), Catherine J. George (Denver, CO), and David J. George and wife Stella M. George (Denver, CO), his ten grandchildren, Nicholas L. George, Cassandra M. George, Michael D. George, Jon Michael Renteria, Jesse A. George, Jacquelyn J. George, David J. George, Gabriella R. George, Jeremy K. Gomes, and Matthew R. Gomes, and his two great-grandchildren Bradly C. Hickerson and Charlotte G. George. Michael was preceded in death by his father and mother, Anthony George (Giaccio) and Josephine George (Palase).

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Horan & McConaty, located at 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80246. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, located at 355 S. Navajo Pl. Denver, CO 80223. Private interment funeral service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to the viewing and memorial service taking place on January 4, 2021, and January 6, 2021, respectively.
