Michael R. Gleason

Michael R. Gleason, 85, of Denver, CO, died on June 21, 2015 in Lakewood, CO. He is survived by his brother William L. Gleason, nieces Mary Patricia Gleason and Maureen Layman and nephews Thomas Gleason, James Gleason, Neal Gleason and William Gleason. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Catherine Gleason, father Cornelius Gleason, sisters Mary Gleason, Sarah Gleason and brothers Cornelius Gleason, Edward Gleason, James Gleason and John Gleason. A life-long sports fan, Michael was especially fond of Notre Dame Football and the Denver Broncos. Born in Fountain, Colorado in 1930, Michael played basketball in high school and began working for Rio Grande Railroad at an early age. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably discharged. He traveled through the Rocky Mountain Region in a variety of roles with the Rio Grande and eventually Union Pacific Railroad. He moved to Denver, CO in 1958. Where he and the Gleason family settled in southeast Denver. Michael took joy in spending time with family and friends and following his beloved Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. A subscriber to Blue and Gold magazine, Michael was an encyclopedia of information about Notre Dame. Michael was also a skilled stock trader and followed the market closely. Upon his retirement, Michael traveled extensively including a trip to the Vatican and to Ireland. He was long-time parishioner of Most Precious Blood Parish and usher at the Church. A proud Irishman with a zest for life he will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
