Michael Hitchcock

November 14, 1943 — June 13, 2022

Mike was the son of Harold and Lillie Hitchcock of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mike received a BA degree from the University of Minnesota and he continued his education at George Washington Medical Center in Washington, DC. Graduating in 1969 he did a surgical internship from 1969 - 1970. He followed that with a residency in Neurosurgery from 1972 - 1976. Mike's military service included the U.S. Army Medical Corps 1970 - 1972 with duty in Vietnam from 1970 - 1971 followed by heading the emergency room at Fort Ord, California 1971 - 1972.

Mike was Board Certified in Neurosurgery in 1980. Mike came to Denver in 1976 and entered into private practice with Dr. Meredith Miller at Swedish Medical Center until his retirement in 2000. After retirement Mike continued to pursue many different interests. He received a Masters Degree in Astro Biology from James Cook at the University of Sydney. He volunteered at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and then special exhibits for over 20 years. Mike joined the University Hills Rotary Club holding numerous positions as well as being a Club President. He also served at the Rotary District level promoting health and other service positions. During his time at Swedish, the Museum and at Rotary he developed many lasting friendships.

Mike is survived by his wife Anne of 43 years, his son Peter and daughter in law, Molly of College Station, Texas along with grandson Parker and granddaughter Piper. Survived also by his sister Pat Griffith of Bloomington, Minnesota and three nieces.
