Michael Kacka

Michael John “Mike” Kacka, 76, of Arvada, Colorado passed away on November 30, 2021 at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. Born on December 2, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of John Joseph and Emily Rose (Yodagalvis) Kacka. Mike married Peggy (Pickham) on January 28, 1967 and together they shared 55 years of marriage.

Mike worked as an aircraft mechanic for over 46 years working for Ozark Airlines, TWA, and retiring from American Airlines.

He enjoyed cruising, cooking great food, building model airplanes, and working with the Knights of Columbus at Spirit of Christ.

He will be remembered for his 31 years of sobriety and service to Alcoholics Anonymous; and his 46 years working the same job, as the company changed around him, never calling in sick.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by his son, Michael Kacka; daughter, Pam Kachka; and daughter; Patty (Kacka) Laushman with son-in-law, Dale Laushman and grandson, Robbie Laushman. He was a beloved uncle to Corryn (Siegel) Greenwood and Rob Siegel.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Roseann (Kacka) Siegel.

A Vigil service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 7:00pm, with a visitation from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community, 7400 W. 80th Ave. Arvada, CO 80003. The Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00am also at the church. Reception to follow; all are welcome.

Ghana Health and Education Initiative (GHEI) is a non-governmental organization which provides vital health and education programs to communities in rural Ghana. Since 2004, they have created programs around the common goal of empowering marginalized children and alleviating poverty. Mike’s son Mike has worked with them since 2013, and Mike Sr. was very proud of the work Mike did with GHEI both in Ghana and stateside.
