Michael Russell Keasling, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away at the age of 57 on November 11, 2021 due to complications of West Nile Virus and Diabetes which put too much of a strain on his body.
Born on May 26, 1964 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Mike lived in Colorado his entire life near his hometown of Lakewood, Colorado. He was an Electrician by trade and started Jakob’s Kustom Homes, named after his first-born son. In the last couple years, he helped his mother manage her apartment building in Denver, Colorado. Mike loved spending time with his sons at the racetrack, watching them race motocross. He loved his family, dogs, big trucks, fast cars, NASCAR and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Mike is survived by his adored sons, Jakob Keasling (Marissa) and Evan Keasling, whom he shared with his former spouse, Nanette Wilmot. Survivors also include his loving mother, Karen Freeman; and sister, Kelly Schoonmaker (Kirk); his nephew and niece, Matthew and Gabriela Schoonmaker; in addition to his half-sister, Nikki Helsley; and step-sister, Lichele Werner.
Mike’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado 80227. Relatives and friends are welcome.
