Michael J. Kowalski of Foxfield, Colorado, 67, passed away March, 31, 2014. Mike attended St Mary's Catholic School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. His Air Force experience gave him his training as a jet engine mechanic. He received his A & P License thru the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began is aircraft mechanical career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Florida, then was hired on with Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia. His time with Delta moved him to Denver, Colorado; Seattle, Washington, then back to Denver where he retired as a Flight Line Mechanic. Post retirement he kept active with his aircraft experience working part-time at DHL/Airborne. He also enjoyed working at Saddle Rock Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado in Ground Maintenance. Michael traveled extensively throughout the world where he met his Special Friend and travel companion from the Netherlands, Sonja Smit. He played tennis, competing in tournaments at home and abroad. In his later years, his favorite pastime was playing golf, and enjoying his canine companions. Mike was the beloved brother of Kristine Bergsbaken, Spring Hill, Florida; uncle of Melissa (Scott) Granicki, Sussex, Wisconsin and Samantha Bauer, Hollywood, Florida; great uncle of one niece and one nephew; and was a good friend of former wife Shirley Pozorski Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He will also be missed by his close friends and neighbors. A Memorial Service in his honor will be Saturday, April 5, 3:30 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial, Colorado 80122. Michael will be laid to rest at a private burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to your charity of choice.
