Michael Joseph ""Mickey"" Manfre passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2020, at the age of 84.
Mickey was born on August 28, 1935 in Pittsburg, KS to Gabriel and Catherine Manfre. He graduated from St Mary's High School, and attended Pittsburg State University. He served honorably in the United States Air Force between 1955-58. He retired from Continental Airlines in 1997 after 30+ years of loyal service.
Mickey married Claire ""Gaby"" Davoust in 1965, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons Joey Manfre and Marty Manfre, his daughter-in-laws Jan Marsiglia and Margaret Manfre, his grand-daughters Marisha Manfre, Madeline Manfre and Miranda Manfre, nieces Catherine Heffernan, Toni Barnhart and Francie Currie, his nephews Eddie Meehan, Kenny Meehan and Nick Davoust, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Emanuel Manfre and sister Antoinette Meehan.
Mickey was social. He loved his family (both immediate and extended), friends, the families of friends, neighbors, co-workers, veterans, people from Kansas, sommeliers, and most people associated with the airline industry. He rarely missed the opportunity to make a new friend. He was known for his quick wit and warm smile. He appreciated good food, fine wine and conversation. He enjoyed jazz music, especially George Shearing and Errol Garner, British television shows, and word puzzles. He traveled the world, visited five continents, loved Northern California, but his heart never left his hometown of Pittsburg. He was their best ambassador.
Mickey was a loving family man who adored his wife, a great father who led by example, and a proud grandfather that looked for every opportunity to brag about his grand-daughters. The joy of having him in our lives diminishes the pain of our loss.
