Michael B. Marion, 77, of Denver, CO, passed from this life to the next on April 7, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on June 3, 1932, to Frank and Jessie Marion in Rapid City, South Dakota. He graduated from Rapid City High School and then enrolled at the University of South Dakota. Midway through college he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He returned to finish college at the University of South Dakota where he received a degree in business administration, (1958), and subsequently a law degree, (1960). He married Colleen Walsh on June 16, 1962, in Mitchell, SD. They moved to Denver where he practiced law for 47 years. An avid outdoorsman, Mike climbed nearly all of the Colorado 14ers, biked in Ride the Rockies multiple times, ran three marathons, and spent a lot of time skiing and hiking with his wife, children and grandchildren. He especially loved to watch his grandchildren in all of their sporting, musical, and theatrical events. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a faithful friend to many. He was an honest, hardworking, humble man of deep faith. He lived his life for others. He was well loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Colleen Marion; children Mike (Theresa) Marion, Tim (Doreen) Marion, Molly (Deron) Hultzapple, and Katy (John) Ennis; brother Frank Marion, sister Jody Deisch, grandchildren Rachel, Daniel, Nicholas, James, Jack, Sam, Lauren, William, Thomas, John, Olivia, Meghan, and Andrew. A Rosary service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 7pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Boulevard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, immediately followed by a reception also at St. Vincent's. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to Catholic Charities.
