Michael Thomas McCallum

Michael Thomas McCallum, age 62, passed away peacefully, on April 20, 2016, at the Denver Hospice after a short but, tough battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born December 11, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Malcolm (Mac) McCallum and Mary Ann McCallum. He was a graduate of St. Mary's of Redford school, where he met and married his first wife and the mother of his daughter, Christie. Michael, worked with his father building the family business, 7 M's Bar in Dexter, Michigan. He later worked for Ford Motor Company and finally went in to the Army to serve his country in 1985. He married his love, Colleen (Foyle) McCallum in April of 1987. They moved to Colorado after the Army and built their life together. Michael worked as an operations manager and ended his career through retirement. Michael, had a special gift of befriending people wherever his life road took him. His sense of humor and easy way of conversing, endeared him to many. Quick with a joke or the light of your smoke, Mike could put you at ease and make you laugh, even in the hardest of times. Forever remembered by his wife as a strong, kind, romantic, loving man. He loved animals, milk, Christmas Eve, a good Euchre game, a practical joke, family vacations, standup comedy, ice cream, cowboy boots, McDonald's coffee, Sunday morning breakfast with his Mom, remote controlled cars, cherry pie and Pepsi after midnight and was an excellent slow dancer. But most of all Mike loved his daughter, his wife and all of his family. Michael was able to know before his passing, just how many friends old and new, that he had made over the years and that loved him, by responding to a request for help. He was humbled, honored and grateful that so many friends and family reached out to help him, when he was in need, reaffirming that he really had a wonderful life. He is survived by his wife Colleen, and his daughter Christine Marie McCallum; his Mother, Mary Ann McCallum, his sisters, Mary (Chuck) Grey, Monica (Patrick) Siddall, Maureen (Kenny) Chism, sister-in-law, Kitty (Bob) Foyle many loving nephews and nieces: Justin (Renee) McCallum, Erin (Jeremy) Vreeman, John Siddall, Maddie Chism, Earl Chism; great nephew and niece: Kaleb and Macey McCallum, his many loving aunts, uncle, cousins, friends and his furry kids, Moon Doggie, WeatherBee and AbbyBlue. Mike was preceded in death by his father and brother Matthew. A celebration of Michael's life will be on May 1, 2016 from 12:30-2:30 at Horan and McConaty's HeartLight Center (located next to the funeral home) 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (at S. Parker Road) Aurora, CO 80014.
