Eulogy of Mike Parrett ~ Given by John Quinn For those of you who don't know me, I am John Quinn. I have been Mike's friend for, well, since he first came to Denver; some 28 years ago. Dave Gross, Ron Brady and I from City Floral had him come down from Fond De Lac, Wisconsin, for an interview to be my assistant at City Floral. Mike was shy and nervous about moving out on his own, but with that confidence of ""I CAN DO THAT"". Little did I know at the time that this would NOT ONLY be the perfect help that I needed, but the beginning of a BEST FRIEND. Over the years, Mike not only extended his friendship but he welcomed me into his family, a gift that I will always cherish. Mike was more than a BEST FRIEND; he was also and always will be a HUSBAND, A FATHER, A SON, A BROTHER, AN UNCLE, A BROTHER-IN-LAW, A COUSIN, AND A GOOD FRIEND TO MANY. Most of all Mike was a person who was kind, friendly and giving to everyone. His heart was bigger than a GREEN BAY linebacker. Mike was always easy to talk to and willing to listen to you. I could always count on him to lift my spirits when I needed it, or the encouragement for ME to feel ""I CAN DO THAT"". Over the years we had weekly chats about all kinds of stuff; weather, politics, retirement, investments, his family – HERE and IN Wisconsin, job frustrations (which were many and long), sports – which he lovingly tolerated my lack of knowledge and was happy to explain. MIKE was very passionate about the Green Bay Packers and the Broncos. I will never forget how his face would light up when watching a game and A GREAT play or win was achieved. You would have thought that he was one of the players. MIKE was cremated wearing his Green Bay and Bronco attire; ready for the next BIG game. Besides sports, he had lots of interests that he wished he had time to do. BUT NOT Model building, one gift was even re-gifted for him, a few times. Investing, gardening BUT NOT THE WEEDING, his dogs, his girls – Sarah, Emily and Patty were the biggest part of his life's goals. I just want everyone to know that he was a GREAT SUCCESS with all of them. When he talked about Sarah and Emily he was always so happy and proud of whatever they were doing or accomplished. Whether at sports, music, school or anything, he was so happy and proud; you would have thought he won the lottery! Patty; we also talked about you too. Your accomplishments, long term success at your job, the extra work loads you took on at home and work. I don't know how much he said to you, but he was very proud of you and lucky to have you in his life. With your LOVE, STRENGTH & SUPPORT you gave him the opportunity to create a fantastic family and himself a never forgettable MIKE PARRETT. He did miss not being closer to Wisconsin. To visit his family there, to see them and share his thoughts and STRONG OPPINIONS on his teams CHOICES to get them to the SUPER BOWL. He loved family gatherings. I could always see it in his face. HAPPY, PROUD AND SATIFIED with what life has given him. ""THIS is my reward and legacy for what I have done."" MEMORIES Our trips to Central City/ Blackhawk. He always seemed to find the right machine to play. A winner in play time, me – mine was lost in minutes. On our last trip he got to play for almost 2 hours with just $10. Was up to at least $150 but our goals were for a big pay out or just to have some fun. Needless to say it wound up to be just FUN. Mike was a casual person. He always dressed casual. I will never forget the time Patty and I took Mike shopping for a new suit. WE were amazed at how good he looked, he too was impressed. I saw it in his smile and the way he walked around while trying on the different combinations we picked out for him. There are so many things that we COULD & SHOULD say about Mike, some may be of the great times WE have forgotten, but will remember in time with a BIG SMILE, and other times, of how important he was for all of us. He touched US ALL in so many ways we ARE proud to have him in our lives. I FOR ONE, HAVE WON THE LOTTERY JUST BY HAVING MIKE IN MY LIFE. It is now with my deepest sorrow that I say GOODBYE and will miss my best friend. Life will go on, but it will be with a BIG HOLE in my life, as I am sure it will be with everyone who ever know Mike PARRETT.
